Unlock Aiwa DVD players - DVD hack

Aiwa AVJ-R5 / AVJ-X55 / HV-DH1 / HV-DH10 / XD-AX36

  1. Go to this site: http://members.tripod.com/aiwaownersnetwork/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html and download the zip file
  2. Unpack the zip and burn the file onto a CD
  3. Load the CD into the player and select region 0
  4. Switch off and back on
  5. If "check region code" is still displayed, using your remote, press disply, disc menu, play in that sequence quickly

Aiwa HT-DM150

  1. Turn on the player (without a disc inserted)
  2. Press ENTER
  3. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9
  4. Press ENTER again

Aiwa HT-DV50 / XD-DV50

  1. Press ON/OFF on the player
  2. Press and hold MENU, TOP MENU, OSD
  3. After approx. 3 secs "Factory" is displayed
  4. Release the keys
  5. Turn on the player

Aiwa HT-DV90

  1. Press DVD/CD
  2. Press OPEN
  3. Press C, 2, 5, 8, 0, C ("Testmode" is displayed)
    Onscreen display shows current RC
  4. Press Up ("14 02" is displayed (02 is RC))
  5. Press 1, 4, 0 and X (X = region; 0 = codefree)
  6. Press ENTER
  7. Press RETURN ("Testmode" is displayed)
  8. Press C ("EEP CLR and EEP ERR" is displayed)
  9. Insert a DVD
  10. Press RETURN

Aiwa XD-520KS / XD-DV520 / XD-DV520 KS

  1. Turn on the player (without a disc inserted)
  2. Open the disc tray
  3. Press MENU
  4. Press 1, 6, 7
  5. Current region is displayed
  6. Press MUTE
  7. "All" is dislayed
  8. Turn the player off

Aiwa XD-AX10

    You need an OneForAll remote (URC 7030)
  1. Press "DVD" on the player
  2. Press and hold MAGIC
  3. Enter 0, 5, 3, 3
  4. Press and hold MAGIC again
  5. Enter 9, 9, 4
  6. Press MAGIC
  7. Press "1-5" and enter the following code
  8. Repeat from step 4 until all 5 keys are programmed: Key 1: 189 // Key 2: 255 // Key 3: 095 // Key 4: 221 // Key 5: 079
  9. Turn on the player (standby /without a disc inserted)
  10. Press "1-5"
  11. Player turns on
  12. Press "1-5" again
  13. Player turns off

Aiwa XD-DV170

    Possibly only works with RC 4!
  1. Plug the player in, but don't turn it on ("Off" is displayed)
  2. Press and hold MENU
  3. Press and hold TOP MENU
  4. Press and hold POWER
  5. Press all 3 buttons for 3 secs and then release them
    "Factory" is displayed
  6. Turn on the player

Aiwa XD-DV290 / XD-DV370 / XR-DV370 KN

  1. Press PAUSE
  2. Press 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9
  3. Press the button for the desired RC (0=codefree)
  4. Press PAUSE
  5. Turn the player off

Aiwa XD-DV480

  1. Plug the player in and turn it on with the remote
    "No Disc" is displayed
  2. Press PAUSE, 8, 9, 2 and 6
    "CODE__" is displayed
  3. Press 0 2x within 5 secs
  4. Press PAUSE and POWER

Aiwa XD-DW1 / XD-DW5 / XD-DW7

  1. Turn on the player
  2. Insert a disc
  3. Open the disc tray, take the disc out, close the disc tray, press STOP instantly
  4. Press 8, 7, 2, 0 and >>
    For selection of a specific RC replace >> with Code (1-6).
    If this doesn't work, press 1 insted of 2 in step 4!

Aiwa XR-DV525

  1. Unplug hte player
  2. Press and hold DVD/CD
  3. Plug the player in
  4. Press FFW
  5. "Factory" is displayed
  6. Release the keys

Aiwa XD-DV520

  1. Using the open button on the machine, open the disc tray. Make sure it's empty.
    Make sure you can see the dvd on your TV screen
  2. Press MENU on remote (not top menu), you should see the on screen pictoral graphics on your TV screen
  3. Using the remote, press 1, 6, 7
  4. On the screen you should see over the top of the graphics "region 1-6" (I have not tried, but you might be able to set one region by pressing remote number from 1 to 6)
  5. Press MUTE button and next to "region 1-6" you should see "all"
  6. Then use the remotes POWER OFF button and the dvd should close the (empty) tray
  7. Restart the unit, put in a region disc and it should play it!
